Global Launch of Better Growth, Better Climate: The New Climate Economy Report

Editor’s Note: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be participating in the event and available for photos

NEW YORK—Former President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, alongside members of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, will unveil the findings of a major new report that investigates the relationship between economic growth and climate action.

The report brings together 24 economic leaders from government, business, civil society, and academia across 19 countries. The Commission has been advised by a group of world-leading economists, including Lord Nicholas Stern, Co-Chair of the Commission, and two Nobel laureates.

Coming just one week before the UN Climate Summit, the report’s recommendations will be used by world leaders, finance ministers, business executives and civil society organizations to develop commitments and actions that can advance a strong, low-carbon economy.

The event is open to media and will include a question and answer session.

Additional launch events will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Beijing, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Oslo, Norway, along with other cities in the coming weeks.
