Ross Garnaut
Ross Garnaut is a Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Australian National University and both a Vice-Chancellor's Fellow and Professorial Fellow of Economics at The University of Melbourne. His career has been built around the analysis of and practice of policy connected to development, economic policy and international relations in Australia, Asia and the Pacific. He has led many high-level Reviews and Commissions for the Australian Government, most notably the Garnaut Climate Change Review (2008) that examined the impacts of climate change on the Australian economy and recommended medium to long-term policies to sustain Australia´s economic prosperity. Throughout his career Garnaut also held a number of influential political and economic positions such as Senior Economic Adviser to Prime Minister Bob Hawke (1983–85) or Chairman of the Primary Industry Bank of Australia (1989–94).
