Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is a team of analysts and advisors that works to improve the most important energy and land use policies around the world, with a particular focus on finance.
We answer pressing questions posed by decision makers through in-depth, objective analysis on what works and what does not. We work in places that provide the most potential for policy impact, including Brazil, China, Europe, India, Indonesia, and the United States.
Through our finance-related work, CPI looks for ways for nations and the world to achieve sufficient levels of, and effective use of, public and private investment to reduce climate risk. This work includes:
- Mapping global financial flows to better understand and identify gaps in finance sources, uses, intermediaries, and instruments
- Conducting in-depth analysis on how to align solutions with the risks, returns, and business models of various investors
- Identifying ways to achieve market transformation by reducing the cost of financing activities that reduce climate risk
- Advising national governments and the international finance community on how to make the best use of existing funds as well as provide practical pathways to systemic change.
