    On 14 November, Nicholas Stern delivered a keynote address and moderated a panel discussion at an EBRD side event at COP 22, “Food and Climate Change: The Role of the Private Sector.” Panelists included Hakim Marrakchi, CEO of Maghreb Industries, and Laurent Thomas, Assistant Director-General of UN FAO.

    Investing in sustainable infrastructure is key to tackling three simultaneous challenges: reigniting global growth, delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and reducing climate risk. The 2016 New Climate Economy report identifies the main barriers to financing sustainable infrastructure and suggests actions to overcome them.   • 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week NYC

    Global Commissioners Sharan Burrow, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Carlos Lopes and Paul Polman, as well as Andrew Steer (WRI), Helen Mountford (NCE) and Ian de Cruz (NCE) will participate in meetings around the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala will deliver remarks on the New Climate Economy (NCE) at the UN President of the General Assembly’s High Level Side Event on Sustainable Finance along with the Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Vidar Helgesen. Dr. Lopes will present NCE at the UNSG "Side Event on Sovereign Wealth Funds". Mr. Polman will also host a Unilever dinner on the SDGs, and Dr. Steer will moderate the Spotlight Session of the Sustainable Investment Forum "Low Carbon Investment in Emerging Regions".
